Privacy
The short version: we don’t collect your name, email or address through this site. We don’t use cookies or analytics. Your postcode is used once, to find your airport and your MP, and we never keep it.
Who we are
Drop-off Rip-off is an independent, not-for-profit campaign on UK airport drop-off charges. We are responsible for the personal data described on this page. Contact: [email protected]
Your postcode
When you enter your postcode, your browser sends it directly to two services: postcodes.io, to find your nearest airport, and UK Parliament’s MP finder, to find your MP. Like any website you visit, they also see your IP address. We never receive or store your postcode, and it doesn’t go into links, images, share cards or analytics. Each service has its own privacy policy: postcodes.io (run by Ideal Postcodes) and UK Parliament.
Writing to your MP
We draft the email. You check it, add your address and send it from your own email account, so it goes straight from you to your MP. We never see it, your address, or whether you sent it.
Sharing a notice
“Send this notice” makes the notice image in your browser. On most phones it then opens your phone’s own share menu. On a computer it saves the image to your device and copies the link. Inside some apps, such as Facebook or Instagram, it shows the image for you to save. Nothing is sent to us, and we don’t see who you share it with.
If you email us
If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and what you write. We use it to check and answer your message and to correct the site. If we publish a correction, we won’t name you unless you ask us to. We delete correspondence 12 months after we’ve dealt with it. Our legal basis is legitimate interests: running an accurate public campaign and replying to people who contact us.
Hosting
This site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like every web host, Cloudflare processes basic technical data, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the site and protect it from attack, and keeps it for a short period under its own policies. Cloudflare may process this data outside the UK, under the safeguards in its data processing terms. We don’t use this data to identify anyone.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. If that ever changes, we’ll update this page first.
Your rights
You can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by emailing [email protected]. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint
